Lido Sant'Antonio is a sandy and pebbly beach located in Gizzeria, Calabria, along the Tyrrhenian coast. The beach has a mean seabed slope of 1.6% from the waterline to the 5-metre isobath. The area is situated in front of agricultural territories between Falerna Marina and Gizzeria town centres. The bathing water area extends 0.58 square kilometres and is classified as excellent quality.

Location

Gizzeria, Catanzaro Province, Calabria Region. The beach is located between the town centres of Falerna Marina and Gizzeria.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The Zinnavo Stream mouth has been identified as a potential pollution source.

Risks

The Gizzeria Lido sewage treatment plant (biological activated sludge system) represents a potential risk. Accidental malfunction of the treatment plant causing overflow has been recorded as a short-term pollution event. Cyanobacteria proliferation events have not occurred in the past four years. Macroalgae and phytoplankton proliferation events have not been recorded in the past four years.
