Coastal marine water in the Strait of Sicily. The bathing area extends 1.080 km along the coast.

Location

Sciacca, Agrigento Province, Sicily. The beach is located along coastal section 14 of the Strait of Sicily. The municipal authority is at Via Roma 13, Sciacca, 92019 (AG).

Water Quality

Water quality classification is Excellent. Wastewater collection network does not exist. Sewage treatment plant infrastructure does not meet standards required by Directive 91/271/EC.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events occur from wastewater discharge from a hotel facility into a ravine that drains directly to the beach. Temporary bathing prohibition measures are implemented during anomalous situations caused by meteorological events or failures in the hotel treatment plant.
