Lungomare Zara is a predominantly sandy beach located in Giulianova, Abruzzo. The beach has a medium width of approximately 150 metres, with sand grain diameter between 0.06 and 0.5 mm. The exposed beach has a slope of about 1 per cent, while the submerged section slopes at approximately 3 per cent. The surrounding area features beach establishments with restaurants, shops, hotels, parking areas, pedestrian promenades, a cycling path, and sports facilities.

Coastal waters. The bathing area extends 0.750 square kilometres. The water body is classified as coastal waters with low stability (C2 category).

Water Quality

Water quality classification is Excellent. The municipal wastewater treatment system consists of a sewerage network and coastal collectors that discharge treated effluent through the Colleranesco treatment plant into the Tordino river. No specific active monitoring or measurement programmes are currently in place.

Risks

Marine waters in the Abruzzo area have not shown cyanobacterial blooms. Scattered algal blooms occur in summer months, with occasional dinoflagellate blooms recorded in previous years but with scarce or absent toxic species. No anomalous events have been recorded.
