Location

Noirmoutier-en-l'Île, France. Six bathing beaches are profiled: Fort Larron (profile type 3), Sableaux and Dames (type 1), Clère and Grand Vieil (type 2), Linière (type 1), and Luzéronde (type 1).

Water Quality

Water quality monitoring conducted by ARS (Regional Health Authority) for bathing waters and recreational shellfish harvesting areas. IFREMER surveillance network data included. Measurement campaigns conducted in July and August 2010. Macroalgae proliferation potential assessed. Etier water quality monitored.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified including non-collective sanitation systems, collective sewage networks, treatment stations (Casie-Barbâtre and Salaisière), pumping stations, and stormwater outlets. Hydrodynamic modeling performed to assess contaminant dispersal under varying flow conditions (weak, medium, and strong flows). Wind impact on pollution dynamics analyzed.
