Manantial Agua Salada is a continental bathing area located in Estella/Lizarra, Navarra, Spain. The bathing zone consists of an artificial concrete pool fed by saltwater from a natural spring. Water

Spring-fed artificial concrete pool. The source spring (Manantial Agua Salada) emerges from the Estella Diapir and has a discharge rate of 79 litres per second. The water body is classified as a Mediterranean limestone mountain river according to hydrological planning. The pool receives saltwater directly from the natural spring.

Location

Estella/Lizarra, Navarra province. The bathing area is approximately 100 metres from the Tierra Estella Lizarrerria municipal sports pavilion and beside the municipal swimming pools. Access via Calle La Merindad and road NA-1110. Parking available.

Facilities

Parking, recreational area, picnic areas (merenderos), waste bins, fountains, adjacent municipal swimming pools with toilets, showers, and bar. Informational signs present. Domestic animals permitted.

Season

Mid-June to early September, with exact dates established annually by regional authorities.

Water Quality

Water quality classification 2013–2018: Excellent to Good. E. coli and intestinal enterococci concentrations measured within acceptable limits according to Real Decreto 1341/2007. Upstream point sources include wastewater discharges from small populations and service stations; all evaluated as not significant risk. Diffuse sources include cattle and pig farming in the catchment area.

Risks

Water turbidity increases during storms or periods of low precipitation. Silt accumulation at spring outlet. Access fenced to prevent pool cloudiness. Periodic discharge variations recorded in 2002, 2011, and 2017 due to low rainfall or internal collapses affecting water outflow.
