Marinella Parmignola is a sandy beach bathing area located in Liguria near the mouth of the Parmignola stream, at the border with Tuscany. The beach is characterized by a flat coastal stretch and is surrounded by agricultural land. The area has several bathing establishments and recreational facilities.

Coastal water body at the mouth of the Parmignola stream (Torrente Parmignola). Area extension: 0.118 square kilometres.

Location

Located in the Municipality of Sarzana in the Province of La Spezia, Liguria, near the Parmignola stream mouth bordering Tuscany. Contact: Comune di Sarzana, Piazza Matteotti 1, tel. 01876141.

Lifeguard and first aid services, disabled access services, toilet facilities, food and beverage points.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Good (2011–2014). The Ligurian Sea is characterized by oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal blooms have been recorded.

Risks

The Parmignola stream receives discharge from the Carrara wastewater treatment plant. A modelling approach for characterizing short-duration pollution events and anomalous situations is under development.
