Monte di Luna is a rocky bathing area located in the municipality of Camerota in the Salerno province of Campania. The beach features high, rocky, jagged coastline with a small island facing the bay, situated within the Cilento upland promontories near the shoreline. The water quality has been classified as excellent for the years 2020–2023.

Location

Camerota, Salerno province, Campania region. The municipality of Camerota is located at Via Roma, 1, CAP 84040.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2020–2023). No known pollution causes have been currently identified.

Risks

Wastewater discharge sources include: effluent from the Capoluogo fraction directed into Vallone Delle Fornaci; effluent from the Lentiscosa fraction directed into Cerasia and Palazzi valleys; additional municipal effluent from sedimentation tanks in Calanca, Marina di Camerota, discharged via submarine pipeline; and additional municipal effluent directly conveyed via submarine pipeline on the west side at the root of the breakwater pier of Marina di Camerota port.
