Morawa is an anthropogenic water reservoir located in the eastern part of Katowice on the border with Sosnowiec. The bathing area has a shoreline of 50 metres and operates during the official swimming season. Water quality monitoring shows the water is generally suitable for bathing, with periodic testing for bacterial contamination.

Location

Katowice, Śląskie Voivodeship, Katowice County, Poland. Located in the eastern part of Katowice on the border with Sosnowiec.

Facilities

Designated swimming zone, beach recreation and sports area, pier/dock, water intake point, rubbish bins, toilet, showers, changing rooms, WOPR flag mast, lifeguard, beach rules notice, information board.

Season

15 June 2025 to 14 September 2025. Operating hours: 10:00–18:00.

Water Quality

Water is classified as suitable for bathing in most recent assessments. Maximum permitted concentrations: Escherichia coli 1000 CFU(NPL)/100 ml, Enterococci 400 CFU(NPL)/100 ml. In 2024, two assessments found water unsuitable due to elevated E. coli levels (3000 and 2500 CFU/100 ml). Recent 2025 assessments show water suitable for bathing with E. coli levels between 15–250 CFU/100 ml and Enterococci levels between 10–30 CFU/100 ml.
