Naturbadesee Arnstein is a natural bathing lake established in 1997 as part of a horticultural exhibition. It covers approximately 1 hectare with a regeneration zone and features a meadow for sunbathing, a natural playground with a mud area, a water raft, a beach volleyball field, and a kiosk with a lakeside terrace.

Official monitoring period: 15 May to 15 September. Water quality checked every 4 weeks during this season, or more frequently if needed.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent according to EU bathing water standards. The site has received excellent bathing water quality classification consistently from 2012 through 2024. During the 2025 bathing season, all monitoring samples from May through September showed no objections. Water temperature ranged from 17.8°C to 26.3°C. Enterococci levels ranged from <10 to 87 per 100 ml, and Escherichia coli levels ranged from <10 to 421 per 100 ml.

Risks

Bathing prohibition may be issued if fecal contamination is detected that poses a health risk, if Escherichia coli exceeds 1,800 CFU/100 ml, if Enterococci exceed 700 CFU/100 ml (confirmed by follow-up testing), or if algae concentrations present a health hazard.
