Neuenweg Nonnenmattweiher

Germany Lake 1 - Excellent

The Nonnenmattweiher: A 70-hectare nature reserve protected since 1987. A glacial karst lake formed by ice age glaciation of the Köhlgartenmassiv, featuring a 100-meter-high karst wall and a floating peat island with rare plant and animal species. The lake serves as both a bathing site and fishing water.

Location

You can reach Neuenweg by car via the A5 motorway exit at Bad Krozingen - Staufen - Münstertal - Neuenweg or via the A5 exit at Müllheim - Badenweiler - Neuenweg. By train: Müllheim/Baden railway station, then by bus via Badenweiler to Neuenweg - Haldenhof, or Schopfheim railway station, then by bus to Neuenweg. The Nonnenmattweiher nature reserve is located approximately 3 km from Neuenweg.
