Spiekeroog is one of seven East Frisian islands in the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2009. The island, approximately 6 km from the mainland, is accessible only by ship, with ferry connections determined by tides. The main bathing beach spans 3 km and is equipped with beach chairs, play equipment, sanitary facilities, changing cabins, and beach volleyball fields during the bathing season. Bathing times are restricted to 2 hours before high tide due to changes in current conditions. Supervision by the DLRG is provided during these times.
