Orb-Taillevent

Taillevent is a bathing site located on the Orb river in the commune of Lunas in the Hérault department of France. The bathing area is situated immediately upstream of the hamlet of Taillevent. The site was classified as a Type 2 profile bathing area, managed by the commune of Lunas, with its initial profile established in 2011. The bathing site was closed from 2015 to 2017 and reopened in 2018.

Water

The Orb river. The study zone covers a surface area of 86 km². The linear distance corresponding to the reference low-flow rate is 16 km. The low-flow discharge is 2.7 m³/s and the summer flood discharge is 5.8 m³/s.

Location

Commune of Lunas, immediately upstream of the hamlet of Taillevent. The study zone extends mainly over the communes of Avène, Lunas, and Bousquet-d'Orb, and also includes parts of Mélagues and Joncels communes.

Season

The bathing profile was updated for the 2019 bathing season. The profile revision was required before the 2019 bathing season following the reopening of the site in 2018.

Water Quality

The bathing water was classified as Type 2 profile, indicating that contamination risk is confirmed and causes are known, with water quality classified as insufficient under Directive 2006/7/CE. Bacteriological quality analysis and other quality parameters were monitored.

Potential for short-term pollution events. Risks related to proliferation of aquatic vegetation and cyanobacteria. Risk of accidental pollution.
