Ossiacher See is the third-largest lake in Carinthia, covering 10.79 km² and situated between wooded steep slopes of the Gerlitzen mountain range to the north and the western foothills of the Ossiacher Tauern to the south. The lake consists of two basins separated by a ridge at 10 m depth, with the eastern basin reaching 11 m depth and the western basin exceeding 52 m depth.
