Stroomi Beach is a sandy swimming area located in Tallinn, Estonia, on the Kopli Bay. The beach stretches 1.45 kilometres and features fine sand, with a stony section on the eastern side near Kari Street. The beach was officially reopened for swimming in 1996 after water quality improvements from sewage and stormwater collection systems installed in the 1980s. It is an important leisure and sports facility serving both local residents and visitors, with a capacity of 8,000 to 10,000 people during peak sunny weather.

Water

Kopli Bay, part of the Muuga-Tallinn-Kakumäe water body and the Gulf of Finland. The beach water has a sandy bottom, average depth of 0.90 to 1.50 metres, and maximum depth of 1.80 metres. The beach coastline length is 1.45 kilometres. Kopli Bay has an area of approximately 16.8 square kilometres.

Location

Stroomi Beach is located in Tallinn, Harju County, Estonia, in the northern part of the city. Free unsupervised parking is available approximately 100 metres from the beach boundary. Vehicle access to the beach itself is not permitted.

Facilities

Lifeguards are present and first aid is provided. The beach house is located approximately 50 metres from the water and contains toilets, showers, and changing cabins. Additional modular toilets are available. The beach offers outdoor cafés, a shop, beach chair rental, ball game courts, and a children's zone with playground equipment. Information boards display water temperature, water quality, air temperature, and first aid information. International lifesaving flags are used to communicate water conditions.

Potential pollution sources identified include wastewater treatment plants and outfalls, ports, industrial facilities, urban runoff, stormwater, and the Mustjõe stream. Cyanobacterial blooms, macroalgae, and phytoplankton are potential toxicity concerns.

Risk of flooding from storm surge and heavy rainfall in the Mustjõe stormwater collection area. Cyanobacterial blooms caused by potentially toxic cyanobacteria are identified as a potential risk. Macroalgae and phytoplankton proliferation may occur.
