Location

Reggio Calabria province, Calabria region, Italy. The bathing water is located near the town of Pellaro, in an area facing agricultural territories to the north of the inhabited center.

Water quality classification: good. The bathing water is monitored by the competent authorities including the Calabria Region, municipality, ASP, emergency services (118), and Arpacal. No specific active measures are currently in place for wastewater treatment.

Risks

Pollution sources identified include outlets from Vallone Trapezi Mariani, Vallone Filici, and Fiumara Macellari. Short-duration pollution events from runoff in agricultural areas have been characterized. Anomalous situations and algal proliferation events have not been verified in the last four years.
