Water Quality

Microbiological monitoring conducted by the regional health authority (ARS) between 2006 and 2017. Physical-chemical monitoring data collected 2005–2015. Nutrient levels (nitrates, phosphorus) and phytoplankton biomass tracked. Cyanobacteria observed and enumerated between 2005 and 2015.

Risks

Identified risks include pathogenic microorganisms of faecal origin, cyanobacteria blooms, water turbidity, hydrocarbon contamination, inter-human contamination, birds, rodents, and domestic pets. Agricultural activities, wastewater networks, individual treatment systems (ANC), and stormwater runoff identified as pollution sources.
