Péguière is a natural sandy beach approximately 160 metres long and 20 metres wide located along the Mediterranean Sea in Saint-Raphaël, with an open cove configuration. The beach is oriented south to south-southwest and features seabed with sandy areas and posidonia seagrass meadows. The water is clear and maintained daily during the summer season. The beach experiences high attendance based on rescue post records.

Mediterranean Sea bathing zone. Beach area: 2,008 m². Bathing zone area: approximately 8,820 m². Sandy and rocky nature. Open cove configuration. Shallow sandy seabed with gentle slope. Water circulation flows east to west.

Location

Saint-Raphaël, Var, France. Access via Route de la Corniche RD 559. Free parking available on the road. GPS coordinates: 43°24,498'N and 6°47,538''E.

Facilities

1 shower, 1 fixed toilet, 1 PMR (disabled access) toilet, 1 rescue post. Maritime buoying of bathing zone applied. Restaurants available. Animals, games, camping, fires, and beverages prohibited.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2008–2013 under Directive 2006/7/CE). 88% of analysis results below guideline values. No breaches of regulatory imperative limits. 12 E. coli results between 100–1,000 CFU/100 mL (qualified as moderate). 7 intestinal enterococci results between 100–370 CFU/100 mL (qualified as moderate). No known phytoplankton blooms. Risk of Ostreopsis bloom is negligible due to open cove configuration favouring water renewal.

Risks

Three storm water outlets identified, with the most significant at the eastern end showing continuous flow during dry weather. One wastewater pumping station located in front of the rescue post with potential for discharge overflow during malfunction or heavy precipitation; risks are low due to alarm system and external outlet beyond bathing zone. Accumulation of dead posidonia leaves observed near concrete outlet. Coastal currents typically below 0.12 m/s, reaching 0.4 m/s maximum during exceptional storm swells.
