Water

Artificial water body (plan d'eau) known as Trappe. The water body is equipped with a settling basin and sand separator upstream, and has an outlet structure. A jet water aerator and water mixing device are installed in the lake.

Commune of Hautecour, Savoie department, France.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored by the ARS (Regional Health Authority) for the period 2008–2012. Quality classification follows the 2006/7/CE Directive on bathing water management. The document indicates the objective that all bathing waters should be classified as at least 'sufficient quality' by 2015 under the new classification method.

Risks

Potential pollution sources have been identified and require management. Risks include fecal contamination causing gastrointestinal illness, ear/throat infections, and eye infections. Additional health risks include leptospirosis from rodent urine, swimmer's dermatitis from parasites, and cyanobacterial toxins affecting skin, mucous membranes, nervous system, and liver. Macrophyte development has been documented in the water body.
