Brazomar is a 400-metre urban beach in Castro Urdiales, Cantabria, with a 40-metre average width and moderate wave conditions. The beach has golden sand and experiences high occupancy. It is accessible by car and served by intercity bus transport.

Water

Maritime water body in the Cantabrian Sea (transition zone). The bathing water is classified as part of the Cantabrian hydrographic district.

Location

Castro Urdiales, Cantabria. The beach is near road CN-634. Parking is available with more than 100 spaces. The nearest hospital is Hospital Cruces, located 25 kilometres away.

Facilities

Lifeguards, toilets, showers, telephone, waste bins, boat anchoring permitted, nautical club, maritime sports activities, paseo (promenade), and tourism office. No disabled access, no blue flag, no umbrella or sunbed rental, no beach bar services.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Sufficient (as of 2011). Previous years showed Good classification (2005–2008) and Very Good classification (2009–2010). Monitoring shows bacterial contamination levels tracked through E. coli and enterococci percentiles. Chlorophyll a concentration in the coastal water station is approximately 2.2 µg/l. High risk of non-compliance with Directive 2006/7/EC due to pollutant load inputs from Arroyo Samano stream.
