Playa Calblanque is a natural sandy beach located in the coastal maritime zone of the Segura River Basin in the Mediterranean Sea. The beach is 300 metres long with an average width of 30 metres and features golden sand. It is situated in an isolated, undeveloped area and experiences high occupancy. The water has excellent quality classification for the periods 2000–2011, with water renewal occurring within seven days.

Mediterranean Sea coastal water body. Length 300 metres, average width 30 metres. Micromareal tidal range (less than 2 metres). Water renewal cycle less than 7 days. Sand composition with golden sand bottom. Natural origin.

Cartagena, in the Calblanque area. Coordinates: UTM 698390.45 / 4163751.09 (Zone 30 N), latitude 37.597620°, longitude -0.753990°.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent for 2000–2009 and 2010–2011. No significant pollution pressure identified. No authorised discharges in the proximate area. Toxic phytoplankton proliferation is a natural phenomenon rarely affecting public health; monitoring conducted in 2008 and 2009 showed practically no presence of potentially toxic cells throughout the bathing season.

Risks

Toxic phytoplankton proliferation risk rated null or very low. Short-duration episodes are unlikely. Jellyfish appear seasonally with peak abundance between early spring and late summer; jellyfish production is highly variable.
