Water

Maritime water body. The bathing zone is 355 metres long and 60 metres wide. It is located in the Ría de Arousa watershed within the Galicia Costa hydrographic demarcation. The water mass is classified as Cíes-Ons with a good ecological status.

Location

Grove (O), Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain. The reference locality is O Porto de Meloxo. Coordinates: UTM 505341 X, 4702072 Y, European Datum 1950 UTM 29N.

Water Quality

The bathing zone is classified as excellent. E. coli and enterococcus concentrations remained low throughout the monitoring period from 2008 to 2010. The water mass has a good ecological status.

Risks

There are no significant contamination risks from occasional discharges associated with precipitation events. No contamination risks from localised discharges have been identified. The shellfish production zone GAL 09/01 Ría de Arousa (EXT) is classified as Zone B with no antecedents of contamination.
