Playa de la Almadrava is a beach located in Denia, Alicante, in the Valencian Community of Spain. The beach has an irregular closed configuration with perpendicular defensive structures (groynes) and no promenade. It is bounded to the north by Playa de les Deveses and to the south by Playa dels Molins. The beach composition includes boulders, gravel, and sand, with a low-accumulation coastline and an artificial origin.

Water

Marine bathing water. The shoreline length is 2,962.3 metres with an average width of 50.3 metres. The beach is classified as a low-accumulation coastal zone with micromareal tidal range. Water currents flow from south to north. The water body is categorized as a coastal water mass under the Júcar River Basin District with good status.

Located in the municipality of Denia in Alicante province, Valencian Community, Spain. Access is available. Parking is available. No accessible services for persons with disabilities.

Water Quality

Water quality classification shows excellent rating for 2020–2023. Monitoring point 'Camino del Mar' has been in operation since 1989. Annual precipitation in the influence zone is 246 millimetres with April being the wettest month and July the driest. The water mass achieves good ecological and chemical status under the Water Framework Directive.

Risks

The Girona River has a direct discharge to the coast with high risk classification and continuous flow at the southern limit of the beach. River/canal discharges, industrial installations, port installations, and diffuse pollution are present but with low frequency and mild impact. Cyanobacteria proliferation does not occur in this coastal water. Phytoplankton blooms and jellyfish blooms are natural phenomena associated with low water renewal zones and high water temperatures but are not specifically reported for this beach.
