Playa de la Cala is a closed cove beach located in Finestrat, Alicante province in the Valencian Community, Spain. The beach has an artificial sand composition with a mean width of 62.3 meters and a high-water line length of 267.2 meters. It features a rigid maritime promenade and is bordered to the north by Playa de Ponent and to the south by Cala del Conill. The beach experiences very high bather density during the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water mass category: Coastal. Water mass status: Very good. Bathing water quality classification at monitoring point PM1 (Centro playa) shows Excellent rating for recent seasons (2020-2023). Weekly inspections during bathing season assess water analysis, water appearance, and sand cleanliness using Excellent, Good, Sufficient, or Insufficient categories.

Risks

Two direct coastal discharges identified: Conducción Cales i Atalaies (mixed origin, continuous frequency, medium risk) at the southern limit, and Colector pluvial Norte (stormwater, seasonal frequency, low risk) at the northern area. Rivers, industrial facilities, port facilities, and diffuse pollution identified with low frequency and mild impact. Stormwater discharge from northern maritime promenade collector.
