Playa del Clot is a closed cove-type beach located in Vinaroz, Castellón province, in the Valencian Community. The beach is 104.64 metres long with an average width of 30.39 metres and features a sandy composition of artificial origin. It is protected by perpendicular breakwaters and has a rigid maritime promenade. The beach is bounded to the north by a port zone and to the south by a rocky area with promenade and services.

Water

Maritime bathing zone in the Júcar River Basin District. The coastal water body is classified as coastal category, typology 1, with very good status. Microtidal range with currents flowing from south to north.

Location

The beach is situated in the municipality of Vinaroz, Castellón province, Valencian Community, Spain. Access is available, including accessible access for disabled persons. Parking is available on site.

Facilities

Lifeguard and rescue services available. Public free toilets. Showers provided. Accessible point service available. Bar/chiringuito on site. Kiosk. Waste bins and selective waste collection. No buoys or flags system.

Water Quality

Water quality is managed under Royal Decree 1341/2007. The water body achieves very good status under the Water Framework Directive 2000/60/CE. Weekly visual inspections are conducted during the bathing season with assessments of water analysis, water appearance, and sand cleanliness. Potential short-duration contamination risks are rated as low frequency with slight impact from rainfall, urban sanitation, and coastal discharges. Industrial installations, port facilities, and diffuse pollution also present low frequency and slight impact.

Risks

Two direct discharge points to the coastline: a rainwater collector (6 metres wide, seasonal discharge, medium risk) and a public sanitation overflow (1.5 metres diameter, sporadic discharge, high risk). The area experiences low frequency rainfall with slight impact on water quality. No cyanobacteria episodes have been detected on the Valencian coast. Phytoplankton proliferation is a natural phenomenon that may occur in areas with low water renewal.
