Playa Norte is a marine bathing area located in Torreblanca, Castellón, in the Valenciana autonomous community. The beach has an irregular closed configuration with perpendicular breakwaters and a rigid maritime promenade. It is bordered to the north by Playa de Manyetes and to the south by Playa de Torrenostra. The beach has a sandy composition of seminatural origin and is situated on a low accumulation coast.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Monitoring point established in 1990 at Apartamentos Torre Europa. No direct discharges to the coastline affect water quality. Urban wastewater treatment is managed by the Torreblanca wastewater treatment plant (EDAR) with capacity of 3250 m³/d and efficiency rates of 94% for suspended solids, 96% for BOD5, and 91% for COD. Submarine outfall constructed in 1998 extends 2193 meters into water at maximum depth of 14 meters.

Risks

Low-frequency, low-impact potential contamination factors identified: rainfall, urban sewerage, direct discharge points, rivers/channels, industrial installations, port facilities, and diffuse pollution. No cyanobacteria proliferation detected in the coastal area. Phytoplankton and jellyfish blooms are natural phenomena associated with water temperature and coastal geomorphology.
