Playa del Padrón is a 1,000-meter-long urban beach in Estepona, Málaga, located on the Mediterranean coast. The beach features dark sand and shallow waters with moderate wave conditions. It is classified as a natural Mediterranean coastal water influenced by Atlantic waters and is protected as a Site of Community Importance (LIC).

Water

Mediterranean Sea coastal water. Shallow waters with dark sand substrate. Micromareal range of 0–2 meters. Currents dominate toward the northeast. Wave regime dominated by eastern and east-southeast winds associated with levante wind. Moderately exposed to wave action.

Location

Estepona, Málaga, Andalucía, Spain. The beach is accessible on foot and by car, with a nearby Red Cross station and rescue equipment.

Facilities

Red Cross post, rescue equipment, surveillance equipment, signage including danger warnings, boardwalk, footbridges, disabled access, toilets, showers, waste bins, cleaning service, and nautical rental.

Classified as Excellent for all monitoring seasons 2016–2019. Low risk of short-duration microbiological contamination (24 hours). Low risk of jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae proliferation. Diffuse pollution sources include land use in the influence zone and altered built surfaces. The Padrón River is present in the area.
