Saladillo-Casasola is a natural Mediterranean coastal bathing area located in Estepona, Málaga, Andalucía. The beach stretches for 4,410 metres with an average width of 30 metres and features dark sand and gravel composition. It has shallow waters with moderate wave exposure, dominated by easterly winds associated with levante wind patterns. The beach is semi-urbanised with moderate occupation levels and is situated within a protected area designated as a Site of Community Importance.

Water

Mediterranean coastal water body with shallow bathing waters. Micromareal range of 0–2 metres. Currents dominate towards the northeast. Wave regime dominated by easterly and east-southeastern winds. Sandy substrate. Annual precipitation 400–600 mm with a torrent index of 25–50%.

Location

Located in Estepona, Málaga province, Andalucía. The beach is accessible on foot and includes a Red Cross lifeguard post. The area is situated along the Málaga coast within the Western Costa del Sol region, near Puerto Deportivo Estepona.

Water quality classified as Excellent for all monitoring seasons: 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. Low risk of microbiological contamination of short duration (24 hours). Low risk from jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae proliferations.

Risks

Low microbiological contamination risk from diffuse sources including land use, built surfaces, and altered areas. Point source from RAYET HOTELES S.L. (industrial process) and Mancomunidad de Municipios Costa del Sol Occidental (treated urban discharge). Potential influence from Arroyo de Taraja, Río Guadalmina, Arroyo de Dos Hermanas, and Arroyo Saladillo. Low risk from jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae.
