Genoveses is a natural beach in the Mediterranean coastal waters of Almería, Spain. The 1,420-meter-long beach features golden sand and a 40-meter average width. The area is isolated and unspoiled, with rocky and gravel substrates in deep waters. Swimming conditions are typically calm, and the beach is situated within a protected natural area (LIC/ZEPA/Parque Natural).

Water

Mediterranean coastal waters with deep rocky substrates. Dominated by gravel and rocks. Micromareal range of 0–2 meters. Currents flow predominantly eastward, east-southeast, and east-northeast. Waves are dominant from the east and east-northeast, associated with levante winds. High wave exposure.

Location

Located in Níjar municipality, Almería province, in the Litoral de Almería area. The beach is easily accessible on foot or by car. San José port is located 2 kilometers away.

Facilities

Signage is present. Surveillance equipment is available. Trash bins and cleaning services are provided. No lifeguard station, rescue team, lifeguards, toilets, showers, disabled access, boardwalk, or water sports rentals are available.

Season

June 1 to September 30.

Water Quality

Water quality classification was rated Excellent for all four monitoring seasons: 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Short-duration microbiological contamination risk is assessed as low. Diffuse pollution sources include land use patterns, forest surfaces, and natural areas. Three ramblas (seasonal watercourses) are present in the area.

Low risk of jellyfish proliferation. Low risk of phytoplankton proliferation. Low risk of macroalgae proliferation.
