Wave exposure: moderately exposed with dominant waves from east and east-southeast associated with Levante wind. Annual precipitation: 600–800 mm. Torrentiality index: 25–50%.

Primary pollution source: Guadalhorce River and Guadalhorce wastewater treatment plant (EDAR Guadalmar, MA040, urban treated discharge). Diffuse sources include land use in the influence zone, built surfaces, and altered areas. Proliferation risks: low for jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae.
