Guadarranque is a coastal bathing beach in the municipality of San Roque, Cádiz, Andalucía. The beach extends 610 metres in length with a mean width of 40 metres and features golden sand composition. The water is shallow with tranquil swimming conditions, protected by a modest urban environment. The area experiences moderate microbiological pollution risk of short duration.

Water

Coastal water at the mouth of the Guadarranque River in the Mediterranean. Water is shallow with sandy, muddy, and rocky substrates. Microtidal range of 0–2 metres. Currents are dominant towards the northeast. Wave regime is dominant from the east and east-southeast. Wave exposure is moderate.

Location

San Roque, Cádiz, Andalucía, Spain. Access is available on foot or by car. A promenade is present. Disabled access is not available.

Facilities

Red Cross first aid post, rescue equipment, lifeguard surveillance, toilets, showers, waste bins, cleaning service. Nautical rental, diving zone, and marina services are not available. Sports marina Puerto Deportivo San Felipe is nearby.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2014–2016); Good (2013). The bathing water is moderately exposed to short-duration microbiological pollution. Diffuse pollution sources include land use, built surfaces, and altered surfaces in the influence zone. Point pollution sources include the Guadacorte wastewater treatment plant, thermal power plants, and the Guadarranque River. Risk from jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae proliferation is low.
