Playa Isla Plana is a natural sandy beach located in Cartagena on the Mediterranean coast. The beach stretches 1,600 metres with an average width of 12 metres and features golden sand with gravel composition. It experiences high occupancy and is used primarily for daily recreational swimming by local residents. Water renewal occurs within seven days.

Facilities

Playground available. No showers, foot wash stations, toilets, or changing rooms.

Water Quality

Water quality was rated as excellent for the period 2000–2009 and continued to be excellent in 2010 and 2011. The beach is located in the coastal water mass 'Punta de La Azohía-Puntas de Calnegre', which has good ecological status.

Risks

Toxic phytoplankton proliferation is a natural phenomenon that rarely affects public health or ecosystems; sampling in 2008 and 2009 showed practically no presence of potentially toxic cells. Risk level: null or very low. Jellyfish have seasonal appearance periods with maximum abundance between early spring and late summer; short-duration episodes are unlikely.
