La Rabita is a bathing beach in Albuñol, Granada, on the Andalusian coast of the Mediterranean Sea. The beach is 640 metres long with an average width of 30 metres and is composed of gravel with a sandy substrate. It features calm water conditions and moderate wave exposure, with waves typically coming from the east and northeast associated with levante winds. The beach is moderately occupied and is part of an urban area with a seaside promenade.

Water

Coastal Mediterranean waters influenced by Atlantic waters. Deep waters with sandy mud substrate. Microtidal range (0–2 metres). Current regime dominates towards the east, east-southeast, and east-northeast. Wave regime dominated by easterly and east-northeast winds.

Location

Albuñol, Granada, Andalucía, Spain. The beach is part of the Granada Coastline. Access is easy on foot and by car.

Toilets, showers, waste bins, cleaning service, disabled access, signage, seaside promenade, footbridges, and nautical rental services.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent for seasons 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Low microbiological contamination risk of short duration (24 hours). Low risk from jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae.

Risks

Diffuse pollution sources include land uses in the area of influence, agricultural surfaces, built-up areas, and altered surfaces. Watercourse: Rambla (seasonal stream).
