Malapesquera - Santa Ana is a natural coastal bathing water located in Benalmádena, Málaga, in Andalusia. The beach is 1465 metres long with an average width of 50 metres and features dark sand substrate. It experiences moderate wave exposure with currents dominating towards the northeast, and is classified as shallow water with micromareal tidal range. The beach is highly occupied and fully urbanised with a maritime promenade and boardwalks.

Water

Mediterranean coastal water influenced by Atlantic waters. Shallow water with sandy substrate. Micromareal tidal range (0–2 metres). Currents dominant towards the northeast. Moderately exposed to wave action with dominant swell from the east and east-southeast associated with Levantine wind.

Location

Benalmádena, Málaga, Andalusia. Access is available on foot and by car. Disabled access is provided. Nautical mooring zone is available; the nearby marina is Puerto de Benalmarina.

Red Cross station present. Lifeguard equipment and surveillance in place. Showers available. Toilets not available. Waste bins provided. Cleaning service in operation. Disabled access available. Signage for danger and general orientation present. Nautical rental and yacht club available.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent for all monitoring seasons 2013–2016. Short-term contamination risk is low and microbiological in nature (24 hours). Identified point source: EDAR Arroyo de la Miel (MA282) treated urban wastewater. Diffuse sources include land use in the influence zone and built/altered surfaces. Risks from jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae are all classified as low.
