Playa Mende is a maritime bathing zone in Vigo, Galicia, located at Alcabre. The beach is 110 metres long and 4 metres wide, composed of rock and sand with moderate to strong wave conditions. It experiences medium visitor traffic and is classified as semi-urbanised. The water body is part of the Ría de Vigo watershed within the Galicia Costa hydrographic district.

Water Quality

Classification: Sufficient (as of 2011). E. coli and Enterococcus concentrations were monitored from 2008 to 2010. Historical classification shows minimum 2 years classified as Sufficient. Adjacent shellfish production zone GAL 11/04 (Ría de Vigo - Medium) classified as Zone B with no pollution history.

Risks

Risk of short-duration contamination from occasional discharges associated with high-intensity precipitation events (yellow alert level). No localised discharge risks identified.
