Muxeira is a bathing beach located in Soutomaior, Pontevedra, in the Galicia-Costa region of Spain. The beach is approximately 150 meters long and 50 meters wide, with calm waters and sandy composition. It is situated in the Ría de Vigo estuary landscape, part of the Verdugo Estuary system in the Atlantic Ocean.

Water

The bathing zone is part of the Verdugo-Oitaven mass (ES01426) in the Galicia-Costa hydrographic demarcation. The beach measures 150 meters in length and 50 meters in width. Water temperature ranges from 12.9°C to 20.4°C during the bathing season. The water body experiences calm wave conditions and is characterized by sandy substrate.

Muxeira is located in Soutomaior municipality, Pontevedra Province, Galicia, Spain. Parking is available with 50 to 100 spaces. The beach is accessible to the public but not equipped with disabled access facilities.

Facilities

The beach has anchoring zones, trash bins, showers, a sports zone, and a lifeguard post. Parking with 50 to 100 spaces is available. The beach does not have disabled access, and parking is not monitored.

Season

The official bathing season runs from June to September.

Water Quality

The water mass has a very good ecological status and good chemical status, resulting in a good or better overall status. The beach received an excellent classification in 2017 and a good classification in 2016. No contamination history is recorded. Adjacent shellfish production zone GAL 11/06-1 (Enseada de Arcade) is classified as B.

Risks

Short-duration contamination risk from rainfall is classified as non-significant. No significant presence of jellyfish has been detected during the monitoring period 2014–2017. No evidence of risks from contact with phytoplankton or cyanobacteria has been identified.
