Water

Coastal marine water body. The beach has a length of 464 meters and a width of 40 meters with sandy composition. The water body belongs to the Costa da Morte hydrological mass in the Galicia Costa watershed demarcation.

Location

The beach is located in Malpica de Bergantiño, in the municipality of A Coruña, Galicia, Spain. The reference locality is Malpica. Coordinates are available in UTM format (UTM 29N: X 515217, Y 4797039).

Water Quality

Water quality classification is excellent. The water mass state is good according to the Galicia-Costa Hydrological Plan. Historical records indicate at least one year of insufficient classification. The water body is classified as zone B with no history of shellfish production area contamination. Monitoring data shows E. coli and enterococcus concentrations within acceptable ranges.

Risks

Risk of contamination from occasional discharges during precipitation episodes has been identified with yellow alert status due to rainfall intensity. No localized discharge risks have been identified.
