Playa Puertito de Güímar (La Charcada – Muelle) is a coastal bathing area located in Güímar, Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, Spain. The beach is 100 meters long and 30 meters wide, with dark sand and gravel substrate. It is exposed to waves but experiences calm water conditions. The beach is situated within a maritime zone with a tidal range of 1–3 meters.

Water

Coastal maritime water body. The water mass is classified as ES70TFTIV (Punta del Roquete – Bajas del Puertito), a natural coastal surface water type. Water depth ranges from 0 to –5 meters. Tidal range is 1–3 meters. The area is exposed to waves but experiences calm water conditions.

Location

Güímar, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. The bathing area is located at Puertito de Güímar. Pedestrian access is available and is in good condition. Disabled access is available but in regular condition. No vehicle access or parking available.

Showers available. Foot-washing stations available. Waste bins available. Pedestrian access in good condition. Disabled access in regular condition. Maritime promenade available. No lifeguards. No medical attention. No public telephone. No public water source. No changing rooms. No bars. No public activities reported.

June 1 to September 30.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified based on microbiological indicators (Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci) evaluated over four years according to RD 1341/2007. The water mass is in good ecological status (biological and physicochemical). Two microbiological contamination episodes of short duration occurred: July 11–14, 2011 and May 22–24, 2017.

Risks

Identified pollution sources include the Güímar sports port, rainwater discharge at Plaza del Puertito de Güímar, EBAR Edelmira Pérez Campos, the Puertito de Güímar submarine outfall, and Club Náutico Puertito Güímar swimming pools. The Barranco Los Guirres watercourse is present. Sporadic rainwater discharge and unexpected urban wastewater discharge are expected to occur occasionally with durations under 72 hours. Cyanobacteria proliferation (Trichodesmium) episodes occurred in 2004, 2010, and more intensely in 2017. No risk from jellyfish, sea urchins, or macroalgae.
