Water Quality

Water quality classification is based on analysis of fecal indicators Escherichia coli and Enterococcus intestinalis collected over four years in accordance with RD 341/2007. The water body ES70LZTII (South Lanzarote/coastal surface natural) is in good ecological status (biological and physical-chemical) with an overall good or better state. No previous contamination episodes are recorded in the Náyade system.

Risks

Cyanobacteria Trichodesmium proliferation episodes recorded in 2004, 2010, and more intensively in 2017. No risk from jellyfish or sea urchins. No risk from macroalgae. No diffuse pollution sources. No point pollution sources. No waterway pollution sources. No short-duration contamination episodes are expected.
