Roche is a 2,920-metre beach located in Conil de la Frontera, Cádiz, on Spain's Atlantic coast in the Gulf of Cádiz. The beach features golden sand with an average width of 40 metres and is classified as semi-urbanised with medium occupancy. Swimming conditions are characterised by moderate wave action on shallow waters with a sandy substrate interspersed with rocks.

Water

Atlantic coastal waters in the Gulf of Cádiz. Shallow waters with sandy substrate containing rocks. Mesomareal tidal range of 2–4 metres. Dominant currents flow south, south-southeast, and southeast. Wave exposure is significant with dominant westerly waves and secondary southeast swells.

Location

Conil de la Frontera, Cádiz, Andalucía, Spain. Access is available on foot and by car. A Red Cross post is present on the beach.

Facilities

Red Cross post, toilets, waste bins, beach cleaning service. No lifeguard equipment, showers, disabled access, warning signage, or maritime facilities.

1 June to 30 September

Water Quality

Water quality classification was Excellent for all four monitoring seasons from 2013 to 2016. Low risk of short-term microbiological contamination from diffuse sources linked to land use and built structures in the surrounding area.

Risks

Low risk of jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae proliferation.
