Location

Gozón municipality, Asturias, Spain. The beach is situated near the Antromero urban centre.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent or good for bathing. Sanitary microbiology results show good to excellent quality at monitoring point PM1. Low risk of inadequate water quality.

Risks

Pielgo stream discharges onto the beach with risk of short-duration contamination episodes from agricultural land runoff and filtration, classified as low risk with biennial frequency and less than 8 hours duration. Wastewater treatment plant discharge located 2.81 kilometres away with null risk classification. No historical contamination episodes recorded. Risk of microalgae and cyanobacteria proliferation is negligible. Jellyfish occurrences are infrequent; one recorded incident of three Portuguese man o'war specimens in the Gozón municipality, with overall risk classified as low.
