Sancti Petri is a natural Atlantic coastal beach in the Gulf of Cádiz, located in Chiclana de la Frontera, Andalucía. The beach stretches 2,180 metres in length with a mean width of 20 metres and features a composition of rock and golden sand. Bathing conditions are characterised by moderate waves and wind. The beach is isolated with low occupancy levels.

Water

Atlantic coastal water in the Gulf of Cádiz. Shallow waters with sandy substrate interspersed with rocks. Mesomareal tidal range of 2–4 metres. Currents predominate towards the south, south-southeast, and southeast. Wave regime is predominantly from the west with lesser influence from the southeast. The beach area is exposed to high wave action.

Location

Chiclana de la Frontera, Cádiz province, Andalucía. The beach is fronting San Fernando and Cabo de Trafalgar. Access is on foot or by car.

Facilities

Waste bins and cleaning service are available. Red Cross station, lifeguard equipment, shower facilities, toilets, disabled access, and lifeguard surveillance are not present. There is signage at the beach.

1 June to 30 September

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2013–2016: Excellent (all four seasons). Short-duration contamination risk is low and microbiological in nature (24-hour duration). Diffuse pollution sources include land use and forest and natural surfaces in the influence zone. The Caño de Sancti Petri is the associated watercourse.

Risks

Low risk of jellyfish proliferation, phytoplankton blooms, and macroalgae blooms.
