Sant Joan is a natural sandy beach located on Mallorca in the Balearic Islands. The beach measures 110 metres in length and 60 metres in width with a gentle slope. It is characterized by coarse sand and has a high daily influx of local users for recreational purposes. The water is free-flowing with occasional backwash but no currents or whirlpools.

Free-flowing bathing water located in the Pollença Bay, within water body MAMC05M3. The beach is 110 metres long and 60 metres wide with a gentle slope and coarse sand substrate.

Location

Sant Joan beach is located in the municipality of Alcudia on the island of Mallorca in the Balearic Islands. Pedestrian access is available but in poor condition. Parking is available but in regular condition. Vehicle access to the beach is not available. There is no promenade.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2022–23 is moderate, compared to acceptable in 2018–19 and very good in 2007–09. Annual water quality ratings were excellent from 2019 through 2022. Short-duration pollution episodes occurred in 2020, 2021, and 2022 (each lasting under 72 hours). There is very low accumulation of floating waste in the area. Identified pollution sources include septic tanks and vessels; no sewage outlets or other contamination sources are present.

Risks

Phytoplankton blooms are frequent. Jellyfish occur occasionally. Backwash is present. Cyanobacteria have no recorded history.
