Playa El Socorro is a 260-meter-long coastal bathing beach located in Los Realejos, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. The beach features dark sand substrate and is exposed to strong wave conditions with a bathymetry ranging from 0 to -6 meters. It is monitored for water quality during the official swimming season from June 1 to September 30. The beach supports various water activities including bodyboard, kayak, and surf, as well as beach sports during the summer period.

Coastal marine water body. Length: 260 meters. Width: 35 meters. Bathymetry: 0 to -6 meters. Substrate: dark sand. Wave regime: strong wave exposure. Tidal range: 1–3 meters. Three watercourses discharge into the area: Barranco La Torre, Barranco de Madre Juana, and Barranco de Dornajo.

Water Quality

Water quality classification based on four-year evaluation of fecal contamination indicators (Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci) according to Royal Decree 1341/2007. The surface coastal water body (ES70TFTI1_1 - Punta de Teno – Punta del Roquete) is in good ecological status (biological and physicochemical) with overall good or better condition. No previous contamination episodes are recorded.

Risks

Occasional pollution episodes from stormwater discharge and runoff generated by heavy rainfall with possible contaminant transport from upstream areas. Expected frequency: sporadic, duration less than 72 hours. No risk from jellyfish or sea urchins. No risk from macroalgae. Cyanobacteria proliferation episodes (Trichodesmium) recorded in 2004, 2010, and more intensely in 2017.
