Tres Piedras - La Ballena is a natural Atlantic coastal bathing water located in Chipiona, Cádiz, Andalucía. The beach extends 2,300 meters in length with an average width of 45 meters and is composed of golden sand. It features moderate wave conditions and is situated in a semi-urbanized area with a protected dune system. The beach experiences a mesomareal tidal range of 2–4 meters and is exposed to waves predominantly from the west.

Water

Natural Atlantic coastal waters of the Gulf of Cádiz. Shallow water bathymetry with sandy and rocky substrata. Mesomareal tidal range of 2–4 meters. Currents are dominant toward the south, south-southeast, and southeast. Waves are dominant from the west and secondarily from the southeast. Annual precipitation is 200–400 mm with a torrentiality index of 0–25%.

Location

Located in Chipiona, Cádiz Province, Andalucía. The beach is accessible on foot with disabled access available. A maritime promenade is not present, but walkways are provided. The nearby Puerto Deportivo de Chipiona offers additional water sports facilities.

Water quality classified as Excellent for the 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 bathing seasons. Monitoring period: 2013–2016. Low risk of short-term microbiological contamination with a deterministic methodology applied. Diffuse pollution sources include land uses in the influence zone, built and altered surfaces, and agricultural surfaces. River inputs from Ayo de la Ballena, Río Nuevo, and an undetermined source.

Risks

Low risk of proliferation of jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae. Low risk of short-term microbiological contamination from diffuse sources.
