Playa Valleseco is a coastal bathing beach located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. The beach is 98 meters long and 22 meters wide, with a sandy and gravel substrate. Water Quality

Water quality classification based on four-year evaluation of fecal contamination indicators (Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci) in accordance with Royal Decree 1341/2007. The coastal water body ES70TF_AMM1 - Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is in good ecological status (biological and physical-chemical), with overall state good or better. One contamination episode recorded: closure from 20 June 2016 to 4 July 2016 due to construction work.

Risks

Diffuse pollution sources: Fishing dock of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Point sources: hydrocarbon separator at maritime authority (CEPSA), Alto Paso pools, pools and air conditioning at Real Club Náutico de Tenerife, Real Club Náutico de Tenerife bar, and wastewater treatment plant (EDAM) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Watercourse: Valleseco ravine. Predicted contamination episodes include stormwater discharge from runoff during heavy rainfall, raw and treated urban wastewater and industrial discharges from broken outfalls or sewer system failures, brine discharge from wastewater treatment plant, accidental hydrocarbon spillage and organic waste from ship cleaning, and saltwater discharge from pool draining and filter cleaning. All predicted episodes expected to last less than 72 hours except saltwater discharge expected less than 24 hours. Cyanobacterial proliferation episodes of Trichodesmium recorded in 2017. No risk from jellyfish, sea urchins, or macroalgae.
