Portally Cove is reached via the Coastal Cliffwalk, with the nearest access point from Dunmore car park, roughly a 30-minute walk each way. The beach is pebbly and bordered by cliffs, with no parking directly adjacent to the cove, requiring a steep downhill and uphill walk on foot. Swimming is possible at all tides, though a strong westerly current runs just outside the cove.
