Porthcressa Beach sits on the edge of Hugh Town, St Mary's, within a short walk of the harbour and main shops, pubs and restaurants. It has clear, shallow water with minimal waves, and access is via a small set of steps down to the sand. A tourist information centre and cafes line the promenade above the beach, and a headland path leads from here toward the lighthouse.
