Porto Frailis is a small sandy cove located on the east coast of Arbatax, approximately 1 km away. It is a horseshoe-shaped beach protected by two vegetation-covered hills and surrounded by flat rocks on both sides, opening into a granitic coastline south of Cape Bellavista. The beach is sheltered from winds and is heavily frequented by swimmers during the summer season.

Water

Coastal marine water. Sandy seabed. Water depth beyond the 200 m coastal restriction zone is approximately 6–7 m. Beach width is 200 m. Area extension is 16.608 km². Foddeddu River is the associated hydrographic basin.

Location

Located on the east coast near Arbatax, approximately 1 km from Arbatax. The municipality is Tortoli' in the province of Sardegna. Maritime ordinance restricts vessel transit to within 200 m of the coast during summer.

First aid and assistance available. No toilet facilities. No disabled access services. No food services. No sports facilities. Animals not permitted.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: excellent. Identified pollution pressures include ports, agricultural diffuse sources, industrial diffuse sources, and urban diffuse sources, all classified as less important. An appropriate modelling approach for short-duration pollution events is under study.

Risks

Numerous shallow areas and rocks in the bay require particular attention from swimmers.
