The beach structure consists of rocks and sand. The area has been classified as having elevated water quality.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is elevated. Monitoring results are based on 95th and 90th percentile values. One urban treatment plant serving more than 2000 population equivalents operates in the municipality of Formia. Specific monitoring of pollutant concentrations is not currently active during the bathing season. Mollusc culture is present in the area.

Risks

The area is subject to phytobenthos blooms (Ostreopsis) during summer months. Short-duration pollution events are still under study regarding appropriate modelling approaches. Blooms of phytobenthos have been observed in recent years.
