Location

Locquirec commune, Brittany, France. The beach is also referenced in relation to the nearby Moulin de la Rive beach.

Monitoring and classification applicable to the 2017 swimming season.

Water Quality

Water quality was monitored under the 2006/7/EC Directive. Monitoring campaigns were conducted in 2011 and 2017. Classification simulations were performed for the 2014–2017 period with classification status established for the 2017 swimming season. Bacterial contamination monitoring included fecal indicator organisms.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified include agricultural activities, non-collective sanitation installations, collective sewerage systems, stormwater drainage networks, and diffuse water flows in the upstream area. Green algae beaching episodes are documented in the area. Rainfall impact on water quality was assessed.
